Blackout

Circa 1997

Time lost,
Hours taken from my memory.
Trapped in knowing that I'll never know
What I did or how I acted.
That is powerlessness.
A driven sense of desperation
Drilled into my core,
Clinging to me,
Trying with fervor to hold me back and tie me down.
I want too much of everything
And it's killing me.
My view of life is oversimplified
Yet too complicated to comprehend.
Did I choose this?
Or is this being done to me?
